2021 Ford F350 Tremor Overlander

This 2021 Velocity Blue Ford F350 Lariat Tremor was built to be able to travel anywhere in comfort and tow a Bushtracker caravan (camper).

On the front AMVE alloy bumper are a pair of Australian-made Ultra Vision Nitro 180 Maxx LED driving lights, which also feature a handy high/low function to adjust the lights for the terrain. In addition to the driving lights, a 30-inch Ultra Vision LED lightbar is mounted to the bar as well as a 45-inch Ultra Vision LED light bar mounted to the Rhino-Rack roof platform. Four Stedi fog lights have been bolted in the recess of the front bar, and the headlights have been upgraded to Maritimo XB LED units, rounding out a very complete lighting package.

In order to light up the campsite or work area at night, Ignite LED work lights were mounted above the rear wheels and Ultra Vision Atom flush-mounted LED lights along with four Ultra Vision LED work lights were mounted in the roof rack.

A Redarc Manager 30 charger powered by two 180W Redarc solar panels and a 50amp Redarc DC-DC charger both work to keep two Invicta 200amp lithium batteries fully charged. The solar panels will keep this truck going for days when living remote.

Suspension wise, the installation of King coil-over shocks provides a four-inch lift in the front, and lift blocks raise the rear. The rear also benefited from a set of King shock-absorbers. A pair of King steering dampers help keep the 37×12.50×18 Nitto Grapplers mounted on Fuel wheels steering straight.

An AMVE 4X4 canopy (cargo body) sits in place of the bed and is bolted to the frame. The canopy is home to the electrical gear, as well as a Pro Eagle three-tonne Big Wheel jack and recovery gear.

There’s also a slide-out kitchen with built-in pantry, internal slide-out drawer system on the driver’s side, a 140L Dometic upright fridge and an additional 40L Evakool drawer fridge secured to the passenger’s side. In the passenger-side toolbox, you’ll find an ARB twin compressor with 20L air tank, vital for pumping those meaty 37s back up to road pressures.

A Bush Company XT 270-degree awning fitted to the passenger side and a Bush Company 180-degree awning on the driver’s side provide shelter from the elements.

To make sure there’s plenty of fuel for a remote adventure, the stock fuel tank was replaced with a 230L Transfer Flow replacement fuel tank and a 180L of Australian-made Brown Davis auxiliary fuel tank is mounted in the original spare-wheel recess. That converts to 87 gallons of fuel.

For water, a 150L (39.62 gallons) stainless-steel food-grade water tank was installed along with a pump and two outlets.

Although the 6.7L V8 turbo-diesel Ford Power Stroke engine is rated at 475hp at 2600rpm at the flywheel, it received a high-performance custom tune by the team at G&L Performance in Brisbane. The truck is said to make 560hp now. A five-inch AMVE snorkel with custom airbox was added to help the big diesel breathe easier.

The axles were upgraded to 4.30 gears and a locker was added to the front axle to match the factory rear locker.

A Warn 12-S 12,000lb winch is mounted at the front and rear of the truck, and a Warn 35-S 3,500lb winch is mounted on the canopy to winch the dual 37-inch spare tires up into there storage locations.

On the inside, an GME XRS Connect UHF CB radio was installed to provide trail communications. This isn’t like the CB radios used in the United States. The UHF CB frequencies operate in the 476.4125 to 477.4125 MHz range with 80 channels available for public use. The frequencies are the business radio bands here in the United States. In the states, CB radios operate in the 26.965 to 27.405 MHz range and GMRS operates in the 462.5500 to 467.7250 MHz range.
