Behold the Hoonitruck! This 1977 Ford F-150 was the result of a 10-year build in preparation of Gymkhana 10.
Unlike the original trucks of the 1970’s, this truck is not powered by a big Ford V8. Detroit Speed (out of Mooresville, NC) dropped in the 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 from the Ford GT. But not the road-going GT – this one’s from the Le Mans racer, and produces a massive 914 horsepower (682 kW) and 702 lb-ft (952 Nm) of torque. That’s nearly four times as much power as even the biggest engine offered in the sixth-gen F-150, and it’s channeled to all four of those 20-inch wheels and their Toyo tires through a Sadev six-speed gearbox.
There are a variety of visual enhancements to the truck, too. The exhaust shoots out the fenders. It has aggressive front and rear spoilers. And there are custom Fifteen52 20-inch wheels at each corner with actual beadlocks. The tires are a fat 315-mm wide.
You’ll be able to see Gymkhana 10 first on Amazon on December 7, part of the Gymkhana Files series launching on November 16. The video will then be released on YouTube on December 10.
